GETTING HERE AND GETTING AROUND ON MARTHA’S VINEYARD

Because the Vineyard is so popular, transportation plans and reservations are of major importance. To assure your passage date, you, or your travel agent, should contact the services below instantly, especially ferries and airlines.

You may travel by bus or car to the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority ferry terminal in Woods Hole. You may fly here from Boston, New York, New Bedford, Hyannis, Nantucket, Washington D.C., Providence, or from anywhere by charter flight.

A representative from the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce, underlines the need for timely, creative planning to alleviate worries about getting here.

“The Island requires advance planning. We will help figure out car-pooling for guests, hiring a limo service or busses. The Vineyard Transit Authority and Island Transport cover the entire Island. We can take some of the stress out of this important
event.”

Assuring ferryboat reservations can also be worked out, tells Gina Barboza, customer relations director at the Steamship Authority. “Contact us as soon as possible with solid plans. We offer different scenarios, including putting people on a waiting list
if we are unable to get them reservations at a certain time.”
